TRICOM Honored With American Legion Eagle Award

TRICOM, headquartered in Menomonee Falls, WI, was honored to receive the Eagle Award from the American Legion Post 416 in Greenfield, WI. American Legion Commander Tim Baranzyk presented TRICOM with the Eagle Award at a ceremony at the TRICOM offices on Friday, June 2nd.

The American Legion Post 416 bestowed the honor on TRICOM in recognition for their recent monetary donation, as well as wheelchairs that they fundraised for and assembled at their 2016 Client Conference in October.

Julie Ann Blazei, TRICOM President & CEO explains, “We wanted to do something different at our conference – something that brought people together but that also benefited others, specifically veterans. We worked with Magnovo, a company that helped facilitate the wheel charity event, and raised funds to build as many wheelchairs as possible. TRICOM staff and clients raised a total of $8,700 and donated 14 wheelchairs, all of which was divided between three local veteran organizations. Our clients and staff not only had fun assembling the chairs, but were honored to be able to donate them to veterans who have so selflessly sacrificed for our country and freedoms.”

“We very rarely give this honor to companies, but we were blown away by their donation of wheelchairs and cash to support our local vets,” said Baranzyk. He noted that very few companies think about donations such as wheelchairs, but that it’s a very personal issue for both young and old veterans. “We really think it’s a big deal that TRICOM showed that someone cares about these vets.” He explained that the monetary donation can be used for various programs, such as one that helps veterans with job training, computer skills, job interview skills, photography, writing, and more.

Baranzyk explained that TRICOM was presented with the Eagle Award, which is a statue of an eagle with outstretched wings. “The eagle represents not only our country, but the American Legion, and it’s outstretched wings represents that it’s a guardian and protector of all things that are good.”

TRICOM is an active member of the community and believes strongly in the power of giving. By hosting events including clothing and food drives, auctions, collecting school supplies, bowling, and serving meals, TRICOM’s employees have raised money for numerous local organizations. Recent organizations TRICOM efforts have supported include Hadley Terrace, New Beginnings are Possible, Community Advocates, Falls Area Food Pantry, Project Concern, TLS Behavioral, Milwaukee Women’s Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Go Red For Woman, The Hunger Task Force (they raised 843 jars of peanut butter in this year’s peanut butter drive), and many more.

TRICOM has also been an ongoing supporter of Brigg’s & Al’s Run & Walk for Children’s Hospital since 1996 and has been a top corporate sponsor for the last several years. Over the years, TRICOM has raised over $700,000 for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, not just through their annual event, but also through other fundraising events (including their own Cheers For Children’s annual event).

In the fall of 2016, TRICOM’s efforts were recognized on a national level within their industry when they were awarded the American Staffing Association national Care Award for corporate responsibility. Although not a large company with only 55 employees, TRICOM strives to make a big impact in its community. Blazei explains, “We understand that working together helps us make a much greater impact than if we’re on our own.”
