Fastweb recognizes and celebrates the contributions of generations of Asian-Pacific Americans

Fastweb (www.fastweb.com), the leading website for scholarship and financial aid information and a member of the Monster network, is honoring Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month throughout May by recognizing and celebrating students with Asian-Pacific heritage, offering a wide range of scholarship opportunities to help them reach their educational goals.

Generations of Asian-Pacific Americans have made significant contributions to US history, society and culture. What began as a weeklong celebration in the 1970s, an official designation came after President Bush signed the law in 1992 for national commemoration set throughout the month of May. According to the US Library of Congress, “the month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks were Chinese immigrants.”

In Fastweb’s latest resource, Scholarships for Asian Pacific American Students, an impressive group of opportunities have been accumulated and are now open for application. Awards of various amounts up to $16,000 are available in the areas of education, math, science, psychology, and more for students exhibiting leadership qualities and demonstrating financial need. More scholarships can be found in Fastweb’s scholarship directory forAsian-Pacific Islander students.
