UniqueHR CEO, Garry Bradford Elected President of the Texas Certified Self-Insurer Guaranty Association

UniqueHR, a leading Professional Employer Organization (PEO), announced today that its President and Chief Financial Officer, Garry Bradford was elected President of the Texas Certified Self-Insurer Guaranty Association effective July 2015.

The Texas Certified Self-Insurer Guaranty Association was established in January of 1993 to create a Texas Certified Self-Insurer Guaranty Trust Fund of at least $1 million, not to exceed $2 million, over a period of ten years for the emergency payment of the compensation liabilities of an impaired CSI. The association provides for the payment of workers’ compensation insurance benefits for the injured employees of an impaired employer.

Each year the members of the association elect a board of directors. The board of directors is comprised of (1) three certified self-insurers; (2) one member designated by the commissioner; and (3) the public counsel of the office of public insurance counsel.

“It is an honor to have been elected to the Texas Certified Self-Insurer Guaranty Association. My efforts as President will reinforce the highest of industry standards and our goals to always offer best-in-class services to the businesses that keep America running,” said Garry Bradford, President and CEO, UniqueHR.

Each year association member companies go through a stringent renewal process ranging from audited financials, Dun & Bradstreet credit ratings of 3A1 or better, and a qualifying tangible net worth to long term debt ratio of 1.5 to 1, with minimum tangible net worth of $5 million, just to name a few. The association works alongside the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) to ensure member companies have sufficient collateral to offset workers’ compensation risk.

UniqueHR is the only PEO who is Certified Self-Insured for Workers’ Compensation by the State of Texas. “Our continued certification and long-standing involvement on the TSIA Board is one more “large company” advantage UniqueHR brings to our clients,” said Garry Bradford, President and CEO, UniqueHR.

UniqueHR encourages clients to be proactive regarding safety and the management of workplace injuries. Employers can limit loss by implementing improved hiring procedures, safe work practices, safety training and return-to-work programs.

About the Texas Self-Insurers Association

The Texas Self-Insurance Association (TSIA) was established to advocate passage of legislation designed to permit certified self-insurance as an alternative to commercial insurance or non-subscription to Workers’ Compensation insurance. In 1989, legislation permitting certified self-insurance for large employers was passed by the Legislature. Today, TSIA serves as a voice for large employers on Workers’ Compensation issues before the Texas Legislature, the Texas Department of Insurance, and the Division of Workers’ Compensation. The association includes employers such as General Motors, Lockheed Martin, FedEx, Textron and Walmart.
